As each year, the Consulate General of France supports the programming of French artists during the festivals scheduled in spring.
The Festival International de Louisiane, largest French-speaking festival in the United States, took place this year from April 25 to April 29, 2012 in Lafayette. On this occasion, it hosted 2 French bands: Ceux qui marchent debout (CQMD) and Lindigo.
Ceux qui marchent debout
After a 19-year career, 8 albums and more than a 1000 concerts, CQMD is still making the whole planet dance. The Funk is their style. Whether it is Second Line, Go-Go, P-Funk or Rocksteady (Jamaican Soul) Funk is always the central ingredient in their English compositions. After collaborations with the big names of the genre (Maceo Parker, Fred Wesley, Bootsy Collins, The Neville Brothers), CQMD confirm that the funk is synonymous with "joie de vivre" and eternal youth ! Their shows are intense and energetic punctuated with descents into the audience with their wireless system to the delight of dancers around the world.
Previously, CQMD also played in few clubs of New Orleans.
Young Music Band created in 1999, Lindigo is one of the best in the new scenes of Reunion Island. With already an impressive experience (more than 150 concerts), Lindigo amazes with its explosive and stunning scenic representations. Combining the Maloya’s instrumental tradition with the Madagascarian polyphonies, the band disrupts the rules of this kind of music. Lindigo follows the path of a very demanding musical performance, which expects musicians and singers to push their limits further.
Lindigo was also scheduled at the 2012 New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival.
